Larson, Rodriguez work opponents' turf

U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriquez (D-San Antonio) and Republican Lyle Larson are vying to win over their opponents' base in the 23rd Congressional District, the San Antonio Express-News reports.  Rodriquez's "roots" are on the South Side, while Larson, a Bexar County Commissioner, has "handily" won elections in northern Bexar County.

New Rodriguez ad targets veterans

Ciro Rodriguez wants voters to know he supports veterans in his latest campaign ad, which began airing in the 23rd Congressional District Tuesday. The San Antonio Democrat touts his support for the Wounded Warriors Act, veterans' health care funding, and a G.I. bill to "expand education benefits."

The campaign commercial said Rodriguez is "leading the fight to improve veterans' care."

Rodriguez-Larson match up makes RCP top 50 list

Real Clear Politics included the contest between U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D-San Antonio) and Republican Lyle Larson in its list of the most competitive House races Friday.  Analysts Reid Wilson and Kyle Trygstad rated the race 50th in likelihood to switch party control this fall.

They added Republicans shouldn't get their hopes up about winning the 23rd Congressional seat, which Rodriguez first won in 2006.

The campaign of Republican Congressional candidate Lyle Larson responded Monday to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's complaint that a commercial airing on cable did not include a written approval message, and therefore was in violation of federal law.

DCCC files FEC complaint against Larson

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Monday it had filed a Federal Election Commission compliant against Lyle Larson, the Republican challenging U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez (D-San Antonio). The DCCC, the official campaign organization of House Democrats, claims Larson and his campaign did not include a written statement in his commercial that Larson approved of the message, which is a violation of McCain-Feingold election law requirements. This is the first television commercial Larson, a Bexar County commissioner, has aired for his campaign.
