More emails from Gov. Mark Sanford

As a friend of mine said: Don't ever write something on an email that you don't want spread on the internet. It can be a huge buzz kill, much like the following chat room discussion with Gov. Mark Sanford:

Sanford has entered the room.
Sanford: Anyone here yet?

Newt has entered the room.
Ensign has entered the room.
Craig has entered the room.

Newt: Here!

Ensign: Me too!

Craig: I am not gay.

Vitter has entered the room.
Vitter: I did her!

Sanford: Thanks for coming. As you know I have sinned, got caught, and tried to cover it up. Damnit. I am screwed. Any advice?

Newt: Dont worry about it. Take a few years off, then run for President.

Turn out the lights the family values party is over

The party that claims to corner family values is now officially over with the second bizarre confession by a Grand Old Partier (GROPE) of having an affair. Unlike others who have affairs, the members of GROPE spew the rhetoric about the sanctity of marriage and christian conservative values, all the while having affairs with other women/men. The latest being South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford.
NEW YORK (AP) — How did he think he could get away with it?

To visit his lover in Argentina, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford slipped his security detail, lied to his staff about his whereabouts and neglected to transfer executive power to the lieutenant governor in case of a state emergency.

Perry tele-tea party hustles for bucks

As it turned out, Rick Perry's pitch to anti-tax advocates Thursday was less a tele-tea party than a telethon. The National Governors Association hosted a national teleconference dubbed Tea Party 2.0 featuring Perry and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford to capitalize on public anger over government spending and corporate bailouts. An RGA official broke in eight times during the teleconference to ask that people donate money to the organization. And Perry, who can't raise money for himself while the Legislature is in session, urged people to give to the governors group, which was Perry's biggest contributor in his last reelection race -- $1 million.

Will Perry reject Obama's unemployment stimulus money?

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford yesterday became the first governor to reject some of his state's share of President Obama's economic-stimulus money. He turned down $700 million that the Republican governor said would harm his state's residents in the long run.

Can Rick Perry be far behind? He's got a news conference scheduled this afternoon in Houston, followed by an appearance on FoxNews. Stay tuned.

Washington Post: Schwarzenegger saunters, Sanford strolls, Perry clomps

The Washington Post turned its eye on the governors' dinner at the White House, saying even those who were crabbing over the stimulus package were pleased to dine on beef and scallops with the Obamas.

Since it was a Style section article, no one merely entered the door.

Mark Sanford of South Carolina "came strolling in." Bobby Jindal of Louisiana "popped over." California's Arnold Schwarzenegger "sauntered in."
Utah's first lady, Mary Kaye Huntsman, "sashayed by" the press corps.

And Texas' own Rick Perry?

Perry steps down as head of Republican Governors Association

Gov. Rick Perry is no longer the head of the Republican Governors Association. The RGA announced Friday that South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has been elected the organization's chairman.

Perry was elected RGA Chairman in 2007. According to a release, he will now serve as Finance Chairman. Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi, who had been serving as Finance Chairman, was elected Vice-Chairman.
