And all we have in Houston is KPFT

God bless the folks at KPFT for what they do, but it sure would be nice to have one station in Houston that is moderate, middle of the road, that provides a balance of talk radio and news we can use. Instead, we have KPFT and right wing hate radio.

KPFT's schedule is pocked with shows like the Vegan hour, Connect the Dots (which I actually enjoy if I can figure when it is on), the Peace Hour, Earth 101, Amy Monotone Goodman, and other far, far, left wing shows. There are some good ones like Connect the Dots which I have mentioned, and an immigration show with Gordon Quan, but they are far and few between.

In Fact Daily Publishes Cool Piece on Bill Spelman

Bill Spelman may make it to filing day without an opponent (and I hope he does) which actually allows for him to potentially run an interesting election campaign this spring centered around a less politically driven discussion about the budget and future of Austin. It's almost like we get an extra few months head start as him as a councilman, which of course, being a professor who's done a lot of survey and field research, he could very well use to incorporate into solutions and ideas for the city. That's a huge benefit for Austin as most candidate don't get to catch a breath from the politics of the campaign trail and then getting sucked into Council Land never to be heard from for 3 years.

New RNC chairman welcomed by Cornyn and Sessions

The Texans responsible for electing more Republicans to Congress in the next two years are offering praise for the party's new chairman, Michael Steele, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland and the GOP's first African-American chairman. Steele won in the sixth round of balloting by party leaders, edging South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson after a half-dozen others were knocked out.

Dallas Rep. Pete Sessions, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, called Steele's victory today "an historic achievement for our Party and our country. Together, the RNC and the NRCC will work to address the concerns of all Americans in the spirit of President Lincoln.
