Democrats launch tele-offensive on Sessions over health care

You'll probably get it just as you're sitting down to dinner: a telephone call extolling the virtues of President Obama's health care plan being derailed by Republicans like Dallas Rep. Pete Sessions.

The automated and live calls beginning today are part of "Health Care ER," a month-long strategy by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to gain grassroots support for President Obama's health care reform in 25 Republican districts, according to a DCCC press release.

"Time and again, Republicans including Representative Sessions protect a broken system of skyrocketing costs, insurance companies making health care decisions, and record-setting insurance company profits instead of working with President Obama to bring real health insurance reform for middle class families," says Jon Vogel, DCCC Executive Director.

RE: Your Plans to Deal with the Failure of Your Party

To Grassroots Conservatives in the Republican Party of Texas:

Texas Republicans' obstructive opposition to over 269,000 Texas jobs, more than $27 billion in Texas' share of funding, and what may end up amounting to the largest tax cut in our nation's history is going to lead to massive electoral defeats for your Party. We're incredibly curious what exactly it is that you -- the grassroots conservatives of the Republican Party of Texas - plan to do about it.

Scarborough: "Pete Sessions and His Taliban Brothers in the House Are Getting Pummeled"

Joe Scarborough, on MSNBC yesterday, talking about the bailout plan that Governor Rick Perry is so opposed to, and that Senators Hutchison and Cornyn would be opposed to if they ever bothered to show up and do the jobs they were elected to do. (h/t to TPM):

Weve been very critical of the process, as have a lot of editorial writers. It seems sloppy. It seems like the White House has been off their game. It seems like all the political skills that they learned throughout the campaign were lost.

And then we see a poll like the Gallup poll that came out yesterday that makes me think that perhaps we've overanalyzed it; we don't know what we're talking about.

New RNC chairman welcomed by Cornyn and Sessions

The Texans responsible for electing more Republicans to Congress in the next two years are offering praise for the party's new chairman, Michael Steele, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland and the GOP's first African-American chairman. Steele won in the sixth round of balloting by party leaders, edging South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson after a half-dozen others were knocked out.

Dallas Rep. Pete Sessions, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, called Steele's victory today "an historic achievement for our Party and our country. Together, the RNC and the NRCC will work to address the concerns of all Americans in the spirit of President Lincoln.
