Sessions elected NRCC chairman

House Republicans elected U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) head of the National Republican Congressional Committee Wednesday.  U.S. Rep. Tom Cole (R-Ok.), who chaired the organization through a round of Congressional losses this fall, dropped out of the race at the last minute.  Sessions had the backing of House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Sessions outlines plan to regain GOP majority

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Dallas), who is running for Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, distributed a memo to GOP colleagues on Monday in which he states his goal to win the GOP the majority in the 2010 election cycle.

"My goal is simple: to win 218 seats for the House Republican Conference. You have my word that I will work tirelessly to achieve this goal," Sessions writes in the memo, obtained by PolitickerTX.com.

Sessions says he's primed for 2nd shot at run for NRCC chairmanship

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) indicated in an interview Wednesday that he was prepared to run for National Republican Congressional Committee chair following the November elections.

"If there's the will of the [Republican] Conference, I'll be pleased to do that," Sessions said. "I believe it would be a fun thing to do and I'd enjoy it very much."
