yep
Snip. Snip.
As Paul Begala noted: Sarah
As Paul Begala noted: Sarah Palin [elected in 2006] as a first-term governor of a state ewith more reindeer than people, will have to put on a few pounds just to be a lightweight. Her personal story is impressive: former fisherman, mother of five, Madame Mayor of a town of 9,000. But that hardly qualifies her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. She is also facing a formal ethics investigation calling for her impeachment.
Nice. Who vetted this person?
For a man who is 72 years old and has had four bouts with cancer to have chosen someone so completely unqualified to become president is shockingly irresponsible. Suddenly, McCain's age and health become central issues in the campaign, as does his judgment.
In choosing this featherweight, McCain passed over Tom Ridge, a decorated combat hero, a Cabinet secretary and the former two-term governor of the large, complex state of Pennsylvania. (See iReport.com: 'McCain pick might be a gimmick') Might?
He passed over Mitt Romney, who ran a big state, Massachusetts; a big company, Bain Capital; and a big event, the Olympics.
He passed over Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Texas senator who is knowledgeable about the military, good on television, and -- obviously -- a woman.
He passed over Joe Lieberman, his best friend in the Senate and fellow Iraq strategy compatriot.
He passed over former congressman, trade negotiator and budget director Rob Portman.
And he also passed over Mike Huckabee, the governor of Arkansas.
For months, the McCain campaign has said they will run on his judgment and experience.
In his first presidential decision, John McCain has shown he is willing to endanger his country, potentially leaving it in the hands of someone who simply has no business being a heartbeat away from the most powerful, complicated, difficult job in human history.
Yes, he passed over all
Yes, he passed over all those people and chose a true conservative who is actually getting things done in her state not just *talking* about change.
How can that ticket lose?
McCain/MILF'08
She was picked for only one
She was picked for only one reason -- she's a woman and might hoover up some of Hillary's more batshit-crazy supporters. You could argue that she was also picked because she's an evangelical, but then he could have picked Huckabee who has far more experience. In other words she was picked because she was a woman and that might encourage more women to come on board. It's a pure affirmative action choice.
Rock ON!!!
Ever hear of the Dog Whisperer???
Soon she'll have Obama behaving respectfully to Women in high places!! (other than his Wife, that is)
HA!
Biden will respectfully crucify Dan Quayle with a ponytail at the debate. And other than that, he'll be focused on what an ass McCain is. Palin won't be mentioned, except in passing by the Democrats. You want your VP candidate to attack the other parties PRESIDENTIAL candidate while your Presidential candidate stays above the mudslinging.
Do you think people will come out of the VP debate saying, wow, I'm reassured that John McCain could die and Sarah Palin would be ready to step in as President?
I think President Palin
I think President Palin could make up for her lack of experience by naming Joe Biden as her VP and we'd still be better off than if we'd elected Obama.
More like Palin neuters
More like Palin neuters McCain's message of "not ready to be commander-in-chief" against Obama. Palin's got a tight "religious-nutjob" leash on McCain like a hot dominatrix. McCain's campaign should get read for the hot spanking Palin is about to give them with troopergate, babygate, and her incessant flip-flopping.
