Real name: David Paulson

Bio: David Paulson is Communications Director for The Maryland Democratic Party.  He previously worked in the same capacity for Progressive Maryland; a public interest advocacy group based in Silver Spring and Baltimore while at the same time working with the Maryland Victory 2004 coordinated campaign to elect John Kerry and John Edwards. Paulson created and operated The Mockingbird Company, a public relations, political consulting and media-training firm and worked with multiple federal campaigns, two winning statewide initiative campaigns in California and the Gray Davis for Governor Campaign in 1998.<br /><br />While providing general media and message development consulting and training services to political leaders, grassroots activists, executives, non-profit associations and progressive groups and organizations, Paulson also provides a unique training, public relations and campaign program focused on argument and debate techniques for talk radio.<br /><br />Across America, Paulson has worked with and trained candidates, activists, advocates and their staffs on the &quot;why&quot; and the &quot;ways&quot; to effectively communicate their messages via earned media: newspapers, magazines, TV and especially talk radio as a part of their public education, public relations and outreach campaigns. Using his unique experiences as a former radio talk show host (WBAL-AM, Baltimore), Emmy Award winning television reporter (WJZ-TV-Baltimore, WJLA-TV-Washington DC), David Paulson gives his clients the tools they need to aggressively deliver their messages and opinion in hostile and neutral media.<br /><br />Additional recent clients and campaigns include The Rouse Company, The National Education Association, the Your Next Car alternative energy-auto project, The Better World Campaign, The United Nations Association, SEIU, The American Lung Association, the “No on Prop 226” campaign in California and over 30 House, Senate and Gubernatorial races.<br /><br />Paulson’s media career began as a reporter in Selma, Alabama (WSLA-TV) before moving to Birmingham (WVTM-TV, WBRC-TV) where he collected numerous Associated Press awards for political and investigative television reporting. In Baltimore, Paulson worked as a consumer advocate and investigative reporter for then top-rated WJZ-TV (ABC).  At WJLA-TV(ABC), in Washington, DC he served as a general assignment reporter and Maryland Bureau Chief covering crime, courts, politics and earning two Emmy Awards for spot news coverage.<br /><br />Paulson also worked as a political reporter for Maryland Public Television and in 1992 produced the Clinton/Gore Campaign coverage for Fox Network News (before it took a hard right turn). An accomplished freelance writer, television producer and narrator, Paulson has also appeared as a political commentator on Maryland Public Television&#39;s Inside Maryland and Baltimore&#39;s WCBM-AM, Hot Talk 680 and WBAL-AM.<br /><br />David Paulson holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from Auburn University and lives in Baltimore with his wife of 29 years. He is the proud father of two children.
