While not yet an official candidate for governor, former state Democratic Party chairman Peter Galbraith is beginning to act like one, touting his credentials and earning visibility in a statewide email to party supporters.

The author and former ambassador praised U.S. Sen. and former presidential candidate Chris Dodd, D-Conn., who is slated to headline the state Democratic Party’s David W. Curtis Leadership Awards dinner next Friday.

“My admiration for Senator Dodd started just weeks after becoming a Senator – he played a key role in saving U.S. human rights policy. I consider my work with him on this issue to be among the highlights of my career in public service,” Galbraith in the email.

According to the state Democratic party’s website, Galbraith is “seriously considering” a challenge to Republican Gov. Jim Douglas and “will be attending several Democratic County committee meetings in the coming weeks to hear from Vermonters about the issues that matter most to them.”

Galbraith announced in January that he is considering a run for Governor. While no Democratic candidate has officially entered the race, House Speaker Gaye Symington has also expressed interest in running.
