Douglas airs first television campaign ad

Gov. Jim Douglas (R-Middlebury) has begun airing his first campaign ad today.

The ad is a 30-second television spot which focuses on Douglas’ efforts to build a stronger economy in Vermont.

“As the national economy slows, Vermonters are struggling to keep pace with rising fuel and food prices,” Douglas said.

The campaign claims Douglas’ agenda has focused on good job opportunities, creating more affordable homes and reducing the cost of living in Vermont.

Lawyer files lawsuit about Vermont campaign finance laws

It looks as though Anthony Pollina may be getting a little help from some friends.

Burlington lawyer, John Franco, filed a lawsuit about the state’s campaign finance laws around 4 p.m. Wednesday with the Federal District Court in Burlington.

Franco filed the suit on behalf of three Vermont residents and supporters of the Independent gubernatorial candidate, who claim the state laws violate their federal civil rights, according to the docket.

Pollina releases new energy plan

Independent gubernatorial candidate Anthony Pollina released a blueprint for Vermont’s energy future on Monday that called for a new way of looking at an energy policy.

“We need energy that is local, renewable and regional,” Pollina said in a statement. “Vermont owned and Vermont, community controlled. We need to declare our independence from big oil and out-of-state power.”
