Burner camp responds to NRCC

Darcy Burner's campaign has provided PolitickerWA with a response to the National Republican Congressional Committee's trumpeting of today's Seattle Times article about Burner's lack of public service experience. Read theĀ  story from earlier today, and see the full text from Burner spokesman Sandeep Kaushik below:

These are the sorts of cheap political attacks we have come to expect from Congressman Reichert's right-wing Republican Party backers in Washington, D.C. Remember, these are the same people that ran numerous false smear ads in the last election cycle that even many of their own candidates later repudiated. The truth is, Darcy Burner has the skills and the judgment to be a real leader in Congress. She was a leader and a proven success at Microsoft, and her views on the issues -- whether it is getting our faltering economy back on track, or protecting a woman's right to choose, or making health care affordable for all Americans -- are far more in line with the voters of the 8th District than those of Congressman Reichert.

Moreover, Darcy has amply demonstrated that she knows how to offer substantive solutions to the growing list of problems we face as a nation, and how to build support behind those proposals. She worked with senior retired generals and other national security experts to develop a comprehensive and responsible plan to bring our troops home from Iraq -- a plan that has won national praise and has been endorsed by more than 50 other House and Senate candidates from around the country.

Congressman Reichert, on the other hand, offers no solutions other than parroting the misguided Bush agenda and the inside-the-Beltway Republican line on foreign policy, health care and the economy. That is not a surprise given that non-partisan rankings show him to be by far the least effective member of the Washington State delegation, and even Republican pundits like Robert Novak describe his efforts in office as "not distinguished." The voters of the 8th Congressional District deserve better than that. They deserve a representative who knows how to build broad coalitions and get things done, and they will get that in Darcy Burner.
