GOP Delegates: McCain 33, Paul 4, Huckabee 3

SPOKANE - Jim Camden at the Spokesman-Review has a detailed recap of the nuts and bolts of Friday's convention action. He reports that the final delegate count to the Republican National Convention is 33 for presumptive nominee Arizona Sen. John McCain, 4 for Texas Rep. Ron Paul, and 3 for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

McCain won Washington's presidential caucus, where half of the state's delegates were awarded, on February 9 with 25 percent of the vote compared to 23 for Huckabee, 22 for Paul and 16 for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. 14 percent were uncommitted.

The Arizona Senator won the primary, which decided the other half of the delegates, a week and a half later by a more substantial margin. There McCain received 50 percent of the vote to Huckabee's 24, Romney's 16 and Paul's 8.

Camden also reports that the planned keynote speaker, Idaho Gov. Butch Otter, had to cancel at the last minute. Otter was replaced with gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi and 5th District Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

The mood at the convention hall today, where platform issues and national delegates are being voted on, is far more subdued than it was yesterday when local Republican candidates spoke to the delegates and guests, rallying the crowd on all sorts of topics from policy issues to presidential candidates.
