WA delegation splits against successful new bailout bill, 5-4

Washington state's U.S. House delegation once again split down the middle the Economic Stabilization Act, better known as the revised bailout bill.

The state's nine Representatives split their votes 5-4 just as they had done earlier in the week. This time, however, they voted mostly "no", despite the revised bill's passage in the House, 263-171.  All three Republicans voted against the bill, joined by two of the state's six Democats.

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Seattle) was the state's only congressman to change his vote, moving from "yes" to "no". He said in a statement that the bill did not do enough to help those along so-called Main Street.

Those voting "no"
Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Bainbridge Island)
Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Pasco)
Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Seattle)
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Spokane)
Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Auburn)

Those voting "yes"
Rep. Baird (D-Vancouver)
Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Belfair)
Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Arlington
Rep. Adam Smith (D-Tacoma)
