Roach to appear on O'Reilly to discuss holiday displays

State Senator Pam Roach will be on a big stage tonight, appearing as a guest on Bill O'Reilly's cable television show according to an announcement made on her blog.

"Bill O'Reilly's producer called this morning and asked if I would be interviewed by America's #1 TV news commentator," Roach writes. "Share a camera and mic with Bill? You bet!"

She will be there discussing the holiday displays in the state capitol that have been under scrutiny this week, culminating in an atheist display being stole, dropped off at a country music radio station, and finally returned by the state police.

As the Tacoma News-Tribune reported, Roach sent Gov. Chris Gregoire a letter today suggesting that it would be more appropriate to house the atheist display somewhere far away from other religious displays, specifically she is referring to the Christian nativity scene and holiday tree also on display in the capitol dome.

"I am hoping you will direct conflicting religious or non-religious symbols to be placed at a distance one from another," Roach writes in the letter.

Roach told the TNT that she would be espousing that same view on tonight's show.

Gregoire and Attorney General Rob McKenna wrote a joint letter reiterating the rights of the atheist group on Thursday, but many have found the words on the display, which are anti-religious, are offensive and, egged on by O'Reilly, have flooded the governors office with phone calls.

Seattle-based blogger David Goldstein appeared on O'Reilly's show earlier this week discussing the same topic.
