Baird tells Democrats to stand up for Obama and fight hard

DENVER - Brian Baird walked up to the stage at this morning's delegate breakfast with a computer in his hand, opened it up, and placed it on the podium. The 3rd District U.S. Representative from Vancouver then proceeded to read excerpts from an e-mail being passed around among opponents of Barack Obama. The e-mail included a number of false and offensive claims about his history and policy plans.

"We have a responsibility to counter this," Baird proclaimed. "This is an American success story and they are slandering it."

Today's convention schedule

The third day of the Democratic National Convention will be called to order at 5:00 PM EST on Wednesday, with a theme of "Securing America's Future."

The day will begin with the nominating process for President, including nominating speeches for U.S. Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.), followed by a roll call vote.

The headline speaker will be vice presidential nominee, U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.).

Barack Obama, Bill Clinton to Visit Evergreen State

This morning's Tacoma News-Tribune is reporting that Washington will get a visit from Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama this Friday to campaign in advance of Saturday's caucus.

In addition, Hillary Clinton's main surrogate, husband and former President Bill Clinton, will be in the state tomorrow. No further details have been announced for either event.
