Despite close governor's race, few LD seats competitive this cycle

Arguably the most important function of legislative district-level elections is how, on the whole, they determine the makeup of the state legislature.

House Dems give big gift in LD 14

The Washington State House Democratic Campaign Committee has invested some more money into Eastern Washington races, the Yakima Herald reported over the weekend. 14th District Rep. Mary Skinner (R-Yakima) has announced that she will retire from the House after a 14-year career. She sent out a press release today that was rife with mentions of her Christian faith to explain her decision.

"After long and careful consideration and much prayer, I have decided not to seek an eighth term in office as state representative and will retire in January," said Skinner.
