President Obama holds first primetime news conference at the White House

A few minutes ago, Barack Obama wrapped up his first primetime press conference as President in the East Room of the White House.

The President began by speaking for a few minutes about his trip today to Elkhart, Indiana (where he held an economic security town hall) and then about the status of the stimulus package that is before Congress.

(The Senate voted to end debate earlier today, 61-36, and move to a vote on final passage. Absent from the Senate was one John Cornyn, who was in New York speaking at a right wing media and business conclave called the Monday Meeting).

RNC sees McCain as a good match for state's independent voters

John McCain has already visited Washington once this spring, and it undoubtedly will not be the last voters will see of the Arizona Senator and presumptive Republican presidential nominee. The Republican National Committee has sent a Victory Director to the Evergreen State to coordinate state and national campaigns, with Washington being one of just nine swing states nationwide to receive that designation.

RNC names state Victory director

The Republican National Committee announced today who would lead the Victory operations in nine swing states earlier today, including right in here in Washington. Former Rudy Giuliani campaign staffer Chris Gulugian-Taylor got the nod for the Evergreen state Victory Director, where he will help to coordinate John McCain's presidential campaign with the other statewide Republican races in the fall.

State, National Republicans go after Burner with web video

Washington state Republicans are getting some publicity help from a higher source. The Republican National Committee sent out an e-mail to media today urging them to check out the Washington State Republican Party's latest attack video.
