Dems question P-I turnout story

State Democrats are pushing back against a Seattle Post-Intelligencer story from this morning stating that early turnout numbers were hurting Gov. Chris Gregoire. Gregoire has been consistently leading in polls for the last month.

They call the analysis "deeply flawed" and suggest that their methodology does not accurate take into account King County polling places.

Democrats go to bat for Ladenburg

Washington State Democratic Party Chair Dwight Pelz sent an e-mail to state Democrats on behalf of the party this weekend urging them to support their nominee for attorney general, Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg (D-Tacoma).

Pelz uses the letter to continue with one of Ladenburg's main campaign themes, his extensive experience as an attorney, prosecutor and elected official while questioning incumbent Rob McKenna's (R-Bellevue) moderate bona fides.

A number of Democratic groups have condemned the Building Industry Association of Washington tactics in light of the Public Disclosure Commission ruling that they had acted illegally in soliciting and receiving contributions with political aims, while keeping the names of the donors a secret.

State Dems weigh in on social issues

State Democrats went after Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi recently with a mocking press release comparing Rossi's policy on emergency contraception with a wistful Shakespearean sonnet.

"Shall I compare thee to a leaky bathtub?" the Washington State Democratic Party rhetorically asked in a press release in an attempt to show Rossi being thoughtless toward women's rights.

Parties attack: Dems mock Rossi on secrecy, Repubs hit Gregoire on children

Frequently the things politicians want to say wind up staying trapped behind their tongues in order to appear above the fray. That is where interest groups and state parties come into play.

Some of the hardest-hitting attacks so far in the governor's race have come from the state Democratic and Republican Parties, who have maintained their anti-Dino Rossi and anti-Chris Gregoire messages throughout the spring and summer. So it continues.

Sound problems persist with Democrats' youtube vids

Twice in a row now the Washington State Democratic Party has had to move to "plan B", but not for lack of prime candidates. No, their trouble has come in the online video arena.

On June 25, 2008 the Democrats caught heat from the Italian club of Seattle for a video they called offensive for its use of the theme song to the television show "The Sopranos" juxtaposed with a black and white photo of Dino Rossi. In response the Democrats kept the video but changed the background music.

Dems attack Rossi on McCain support post-tanker deal

The state Democratic Party is continuing its series of attacks on Dino Rossi in the absence of a formal Chris Gregoire campaign. Today the Democrats took Rossi to task for supporting John McCain in spite of his alleged interference with the Air Force tanker contract that was awarded to France-based EADS over Boeing.
